Isle of Man Public Transport is part of the Department of Infrastructure and is responsible for operating and preserving the Island's unique public transport network. Following the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, bus vannin has experienced sustained growth in passenger numbers, exceeding 3.6 million passenger journeys in 2024 and 2025. This represents one of the strongest public transport recovery stories in the British Isles.

Providing a high-quality customer experience remains at the heart of everything we do.
The National Highways and Transport (NHT) Public Satisfaction Survey has recorded a customer satisfaction for local bus services on the Isle of Man above the NHT benchmark average of 60%. Although this places bus vannin among the highest-performing public transport operators measured by the survey, we continue to invest in improvements to make travelling by bus even easier, more reliable and more enjoyable for everyone.

Heritage Fleet
Alongside our modern buses, bus vannin proudly preserves a unique heritage fleet available for special events and private charter.
Our collection includes beautifully restored AEC and Leyland double-deck buses dating from 1948 to 1967, representing an important part of the Island's transport history.
These classic vehicles regularly appear at community celebrations, heritage events, weddings, corporate functions and sightseeing tours, allowing passengers to experience the golden age of bus travel.

Heritage Railways
Isle of Man Transport is also the proud custodian and operator of four internationally recognised heritage railways, each offering a unique journey through the Island's spectacular scenery and rich history:
- Isle of Man Steam Railway – Britain's longest narrow-gauge steam railway in regular operation.
- Manx Electric Railway – The longest narrow-gauge electric railway in the British Isles, operating historic tramcars dating back more than a century.
- Snaefell Mountain Railway – Climbing to the summit of the Isle of Man's only mountain, with panoramic views across the Island and, on clear days, to England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales.
- Douglas Bay Horse Tramway – The world's oldest horse-drawn tramway still operating on its original route.
Together, these iconic railways attract visitors from around the world and preserve a unique part of the Isle of Man's engineering and transport heritage.
